would love to see this cemetery

Wingham General Cemetery occupies a large, open, rolling site approximately 2.5km south-west of the township. Inscriptions date from 1860. At the time of listing it had recently been mown and was in good order with no sign of vandalism. Almost all inscriptions are clearly legible. Town water is the only facility provided.

There is signposting to identify denominational areas but the boundaries between these areas is unclear making the signposting confusing. There are no markers identifying rows but in some isolated areas grave numbering can be seen. The listing for this cemetery contains area/grave identification only where it was felt that it could be accurately recorded. There is a small columbarium.

The digital images were taken by Ray Cork during November – December 2008. His images may be downloaded from the list of all inscriptions for this cemetery. Ray also compiled the inscription list with reference to the NSW BDM online search facility and the Australian War Memorial Nominal Rolls for both WW1 and WW2 for additional information.

How to find it
From the Town Hall in Farquhar St, travel west 200m to the roundabout and turn left into Moon St. After 200m veer right at the Presbyterian Church into Gloucester Road. Follow Gloucester Rd for 1.9km then turn left into Glenyarra Rd which leads to the cemetery.
